Food Lover's Unite

In my humble opinion, the Avocado pear is one of those foods that I consider to be food fit for a king. It is always frustrating when you buy them though since they are never ripe and ready to eat at that specific moment. It takes days, sometimes weeks before you get to taste that smooth, buttery flavour whether in a salad or simply on a slice of bread with salt and pepper sprinkled over (Don't forget a dash of vinegar).

A little trick I was taught and works like a charm is placing the avo's into a brown paper bag. You often get them from the grocer's when you do your shopping. Keep the bag closed.

Check on the avo's on a daily basis as they ripen much quicker in this manner. Once ripe, remove them from the brown paper bag and place them in the refrigerator. This will slow down the ripening stage and the ripe avo's will last longer.

Failure to remove the avo's can prove to be unpleasant.
